1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using MovieMap ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use MovieMap. By using the App, you represent that you meet this requirement. Users between 13 and 18 must have parental or guardian consent.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Please notify us immediately at privacy@moviemap.app if you suspect unauthorised access.

4. User Content

You retain ownership of content you post (reviews, lists, messages). By posting content, you grant MovieMap a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display and distribute that content within the App. You agree not to post:

• Content that is unlawful, harmful, or harassing
• Spam or misleading information
• Content that infringes on the intellectual property of others
• Personal data of others without their consent

5. Location Data

If you enable location sharing, your GPS position is intentionally offset by up to 1 km before being stored and displayed to other users. This is designed to protect your precise location. You can disable location sharing at any time from Account settings. We never sell your location data to third parties.

6. Third-Party Services

MovieMap integrates with the following third-party services:

• The Movie Database (TMDB) — movie and TV data
• Firebase (Google) — authentication, database, and storage
• Expo — push notification delivery
• Letterboxd — optional import of your watch history via CSV export

Use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

7. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

• Attempt to reverse-engineer or exploit the App
• Use automated tools to scrape or interact with the App
• Impersonate other users or create fake accounts
• Interfere with the App's security or infrastructure

8. Intellectual Property

All App design, code, branding, and original content are owned by MovieMap and protected by copyright. Movie data, posters, and descriptions are provided by TMDB and are subject to TMDB's terms. Letterboxd is a trademark of its respective owners.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

MovieMap is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that movie data will be accurate or complete.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MovieMap shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.

11. Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time from Account settings, which will permanently remove your data within 30 days.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. We will notify you of material changes via in-app notification.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
